Mounting toolboxes properly is always very important. If done correctly, it will add longer life to your toolbox. Always try to fasten mounting brackets as parallel as possible, mount boxes as high from the ground as possible, and if the brackets are bolted on, check bolt torque periodically. It is highly recommended that all bolts and nuts used to fasten brackets and tool boxes are of high quality Grade 8.
It is recommended that toolboxes be mounted on the bottom with L-Shape brackets whenever possible. (See illustrations below.)
Finding the right mounting brackets for your application with a minimum of modification can be a challenge. Our Heavy Duty L-Shape mounting brackets are available in both steel and aluminum, and come standard with a reinforcement bracing bar that runs diagonally from top to bottom (see photos) to carry extreme heavy loads. Steel brackets are made from 3/16" thick high strength steel, and are powder coated to stand up against all seasonal elements and daily exposure to harsh road grime. This helps prevent rust and fatigue. Aluminum brackets are made of .190” marine grade aluminum to keep that extra weight to a minimum, but still carry the same heavy duty design of the steel version. Also available for both steel and aluminum mounting brackets is an optional cross beam that fits between the two L brackets. See detail drawings below.
